MISE-EN-SCENE RECREATIONAL PRACTICAL!

MISE-EN-SCENE RECREATIONAL PRACTICAL:

THE ORIGINAL:

THE RECREATION:

COSTUME: For the costume we tried to see what the closest possible outfit to our characters was. There were barely any full shots, so we did not bother about the bottom part of the outfit this was also not shown in the actual scene. If we couldn't get the exact same outfit, we tried to get similar colours or design of the outfits which I believe did a very impressive job.

LIGHTING: For the lighting we used natural lighting that was there in the canteen hall. We did not add any extra ring lights because we believed it was not needed as it is supposed to be a typical day at school and the lighting at the time seemed to be perfect.

ACTORS: For the actresses in the video, we decided on Tanisha (me) being Karen who is mostly clueless in the scene, Sopiga who is one of the main protagonists of mean girls acted out as Regina, Rukshana acted out as one of the other main protagonists cady and rathusa who played the role of Gretchen.

MAKEUP: We hardly used any makeup as it had nothing to do with the scene and we needed to act as regular student, so nothing was needed for dramatic use.

PROPS: We used trays and paper cutlery to present the scene of a school lunch. Rukshana (cady) also had to wear some sort of bracelet which could be classified as a prop because cadys bracelet that was "made by her mum" is also shown in the scene.

SETTING: The setting of this scene was in the canteen at school

We used an iPhone 13 to recreate this scene as we believed it was easier. We borrowed a tripod from the media department and our camera person was Amira and rathusa (who helped Amira with how the scene shot looked like with the screenshots we took beforehand) this was useful as it showed Amira where to place the tripod. We used a lot of close-up shots as in the actual scene it zooms more in the face when it comes to Regina and cady having their conversation. We tried to include all aspects of the mise-En-scene which we believe was done very well. This was shot after school in the school canteen.

THE DIALOGUE:

0:00 I'm new. I just moved here from Africa.
0:02 What? I used to be home-schooled.
0:05 Wait. What?
0:06 My mom taught me at home-- no, no.
0:08 I know what home-school is. I'm not retarded.
0:10 So you've actually never been to a real school before?
0:14 Shut up.
0:16 Shut up.
0:18 I didn't say anything.
0:20 Home-schooled.
0:21 That's really interesting. Thanks.
0:24 But you're, like, really pretty.
0:25 Thank you. So, you agree.
0:28 What? You think you're really pretty.
0:30 Oh, I don't know--
0:32 Oh, my god, I love your bracelet.
0:33 Where did you get it?
0:34 Oh, my mom made it for me.
0:36 It's adorable. Oh, it's so fetched.
0:39 What is "fetch"?
0:40 Oh, it's, like, slang. From England.
0: 42 So if you're from Africa
0:44 Why are you white?
0:47 Oh, my god, Karen,
0:48 You can't just ask people why they're white.
